Chicken Tikka

Ingredients

  • 1kg de-boned chicken pieces (3cm)

  • Salt to taste

  • 30ml red chilli, minced

  • 30ml garlic, minced

  • 30ml ginger, minced

  • 60ml cream

  • 50ml lemon juice

  • 50ml butter, melted


Marinade

  • 200ml double-thick plain yoghurt

  • 15g garam masala

  • 15ml red chilli, minced

  • 10ml garlic, minced

  • 10ml ginger, minced

  • 20ml lemon juice

  • 50ml oil

  • salt to taste

Method

  1. Mix salt, chilli, ginger, garlic, cream and lemon juice and rub into the chicken pieces

  2. Set aside for an hour

  3. To make the marinade, beat the yoghurt in a bowl and then combine all other ingredients into it

  4. Add the chicken to the marinade and leave covered in the fridge for 2 to 3 hours

  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C

  6. Brush the baking tray with melted butter and spread the chicken over the tray without overlapping the pieces

  7. Bake for 15 minutes, brushing every 5 minutes with melted butter

Notes

Great as a starter with sliced onions and salad.
