Instant Chocolate Cake

from Grandpa's kitchen

Ingredients

  • 175g Plain Flour

  • 1 heaped tsp Baking Powder

  • 4 heaped tsp Cocoa Powder

  • 110g Sugar

  • 1 tsp Black Treacle

  • 150ml Sunflower Oil

  • 150ml Milk

  • 2 Eggs

  • 1 tsp Salt


Icing
  • 2 tsp Cocoa

  • 1 tsp Butter

  • 4 tsp Hot Water

  • Icing Sugar

Method

  1. Place all ingredients in a food processor or stand mixer & blend

  2. When it has turned dark brown and creamy, divide in half & spoon evenly into two 20cm sandwich tins or one 23cm tin

  3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 160°C

  4. Remove from oven and take out of tins when cool


Icing

  1. Dissolve Cocoa in about half the water

  2. Add butter and the remaining water

  3. Add sufficient icing sugar to make to right consistency to spread

  4. Spread over cooled cake
