Korean Sesame Broccoli Salad

Adapted from Korean Bapsang

An asian salad of blanched broccoli dressed with generous amounts of sesame oil and sesame seeds. Quick, simple and delicious!

Ingredients

  • 500g Broccoli

  • 1 tsp Salt for blanching

  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds, roasted and crushed

  • 0.5 tbsp roasted sesame oil or 1 tbsp plain Sesame Oil

  • 0.5 tsp minced Garlic

  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Cut the broccoli into small florets and stem slices.

  2. In a pan, roast sesame seeds over high heat until golden and toasted. Keep them moving so they don't burn.

  3. Crush the seeds in a blender by pulsing them a couple of times or smash them in a pestle and mortar.

  4. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a teaspoon of salt and broccoli

  5. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until it reaches the desired tenderness.

  6. Drain, and immediately shock in cold water to stop cooking. Drain well.

  7. Combine the broccoli with the remaining ingredients, and toss well to evenly distribute the seasoning.
