Mohnschnitten
Adapted from Küchen Freundin
These German yoghurt poppy slices are quick to make and delicious

Ingredients
200g Butter
4 Eggs
250g Sugar
2 cups Yogurt
200g Poppy seeds, ground
300g Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Lemon Zest
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 tsp Salt
Glaze:
30ml Lemon juice (about half a lemon)
150g Icing Sugar
Method
Beat butter, eggs and sugar in a stand mixer until light and fluffy.
Mix in yogurt, poppy seeds, cinnamon and lemon zest.
Mix in the flour and baking powder.
Spread the mixture onto a buttered tray (large enough for the slices to be 2 to 3cm thick).
Bake 160°C for about 30 - 35 minutes or until lightly coloured.
Remove the baked poppy slices from the oven and let them cool.
Glaze:
Mix the lemon juice and sifted icing sugar until smooth.
Spread the glaze over the cooled poppy slices.
Notes
Great served with whipped cream and fresh berries.
